Son d\u00e9veloppement permettrait de promouvoir des sites strat\u00e9giques tels que les plates-formes logistiques et les ports secs, qui constituent des n\u0153uds essentiels pour organiser et redistribuer les flux de marchandises dans la p\u00e9ninsule ib\u00e9rique. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son trac\u00e9, il relierait les capitales, les principaux ports et les n\u0153uds logistiques de la p\u00e9ninsule aux principaux corridors d&rsquo;Europe du Nord et de l&rsquo;Est. Cette capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 relier des zones \u00e9loign\u00e9es et \u00e0 faciliter le transit international ferait du <strong>TMC<\/strong> une porte d&rsquo;entr\u00e9e strat\u00e9gique, particuli\u00e8rement pertinente dans un contexte o\u00f9 les actuels cols pyr\u00e9n\u00e9ens, concentr\u00e9s aux extr\u00e9mit\u00e9s est et ouest, pr\u00e9sentent des limites de capacit\u00e9.  <\/p>\n<p>Le projet s&rsquo;inscrit dans le cadre d&rsquo;une approche multimodale favorisant des connexions transparentes entre les ports, les plates-formes logistiques int\u00e9rieures et les r\u00e9seaux ferroviaires \u00e0 longue distance, ce qui permet de choisir le mode de transport le plus efficace dans chaque cas.<\/p>\n<p>De cette mani\u00e8re, le <strong>TCM<\/strong> contribuerait \u00e0 augmenter de mani\u00e8re significative la part des marchandises transport\u00e9es par le rail, un objectif prioritaire pour l&rsquo;Union europ\u00e9enne en raison de sa contribution \u00e0 la d\u00e9carbonisation et \u00e0 la r\u00e9duction du trafic routier lourd. Sa fonction de corridor multifonctionnel permettrait \u00e9galement l&rsquo;int\u00e9gration d&rsquo;un canal d&rsquo;interconnexion \u00e9lectrique, am\u00e9liorant la stabilit\u00e9 et la r\u00e9silience du r\u00e9seau \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique entre les deux versants des Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es. <\/p>\n<p>Outre sa dimension \u00e9conomique et logistique, le <strong>TMC<\/strong> a une composante strat\u00e9gique \u00e9vidente li\u00e9e \u00e0 la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et \u00e0 la d\u00e9fense. La possibilit\u00e9 de doter le corridor d&rsquo;un double usage civil et militaire s&rsquo;inscrit dans le souci croissant de l&rsquo;Europe de renforcer ses infrastructures critiques face aux risques g\u00e9opolitiques et aux menaces qui p\u00e8sent sur l&rsquo;int\u00e9grit\u00e9 territoriale.
